Every two years, CIGRE delivers the world’s foremost collaborative knowledge development and sharing programme for the power system sector. Through extensive remote collaboration and periodic face-to-face events, experts from around the globe contribute to advancing the industry. This unique programme culminates in the Paris Session – the leading international gathering for power system expertise. Scholarship Application now Open for CIGRE Canada NGN Award for Energy Excellence
CIGRE Canada is pleased to offer scholarships in the amount of $3,500 each to 3 successful students pursuing a post-secondary degree in the energy sector. This program is in association with Electro-Federation Canada (EFC).
Eligibility:
Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program at the undergraduate or graduate level. Eligibility restricted to students from the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon and Northwest Territories.
Conference Attendance:
Successful applicants must be able and willing to attend the CIGRE Energy Forum 2026 at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary, Alberta on September 22nd, 2026, where the scholarship will be formally awarded. CIGRE Canada will provide complimentary conference registration and a one-night hotel stay to the award winners.
CIGRE is a global, collaborative community dedicated to advancing the development and sharing of expertise in electric power systems to support the evolving needs of the energy sector worldwide. CIGRE Canada serves as the national committee, bringing together members from coast to coast and supporting knowledge exchange through 16 Study Committees, the Women in Energy (WiE) group CIGRE Women in Energy (WIE), and the Next Generation Network (NGN) CIGRE NGN – Canada.

The 2026 XXIst Annual CIGRE Conference & Exhibition on Power Systems will bring together the key players in the electric power systems sector: business leaders, system operators, manufacturers, engineers, policy makers,
regulators and academics. The conference is a unique forum to share exciting new research, to raise issues and awareness, to discuss future directions, and to network with leading professionals.
Abstract submissions:
As of February 1st, authors should submit a one-page abstract through the online system on www.cigre.ca
Upon abstract acceptance, a 6–8 pages paper in CIGRE format must be submitted by the final deadline. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and will be published in the online CIGRE library (e-cigre.org), provided at least one author is fully registered and presents the paper at the conference.
