Honors and Distinctions
In recognition of exceptional service and technical excellence, each year CIGRE presents a variety of honours and distinctions to deserving members.
Honorary Membership
The highest distinction bestowed by CIGRE, the title of Honorary Member, rewards the recipient with lifetime membership. Dating back to the organization’s beginnings, the title was traditionally reserved for past presidents. CIGRE Steering Committee members and study committees chairs who have distinguished themselves through their outstanding service to the organization have been eligible to receive the award since 1996.
